“ | Handcrafted mitts. They may make you clumsy, but they're very warm. Kind of like wearing a rabbit on your hands. In-game description
|
” |
Rabbitskin mitts are a type of craftable clothing in The Long Dark worn on the hands as gloves. Significantly warmer and more durable than the scavangeable manufactured articles of Basic gloves and Mittens, their only real competition are Gauntlets, which provide similar weight and warmth, while having higher protection and better mobility. On the other hand, the mitts last longer without repair and are more waterproof.
Crafting
Craft at a workbench:
- 4 cured rabbit pelts
- 2 cured guts
- 5 cumulative hours of sewing with a sewing kit or 8 hours with a fishing tackle
Game history
- Rabbitskin mitts were introduced in the December version 0.181 update, along with the wolfskin coat and deerskin boots.
- Previously crafted out of Cured leather using the Hunting knife as a tool.
- While previous in-game descriptions suggested that firing the Hunting rifle (and implicitly the Survival bow) should be more difficult while wearing mittens, this is currently false.
