Handcrafted mitts. They may make you clumsy, but they're very warm. Kind of like wearing a rabbit on your hands.
In-game description

Rabbitskin mitts are a type of craftable clothing in The Long Dark worn on the hands as gloves. Significantly warmer and more durable than the scavangeable manufactured articles of Basic gloves and Mittens, their only real competition are Gauntlets, which provide similar weight and warmth, while having higher protection and better mobility. On the other hand, the mitts last longer without repair and are more waterproof.
